Side Effect After Implant Rhinoplasty: "Nasal Implant Extrusion" Cases

Side Effect After Implant Rhinoplasty: "Nasal Implant Extrusion" Cases
After rhinoplasty with an implant, cases in which the implant breaks through the mucosa inside the nose
or the outer skin and extrudes
occur from time to time.
In such cases infection accompanies it,
over time it also progresses to contracture,
and the wound enlarges and leaves a scar,
so removal as early as possible is needed.
When removal surgery is performed properly at the right time,
the nose can recover attractively, without lasting complications.

Past History: The silicone broke through the mucosa inside the right nostril.
Physical Examination: As a result, the nose was swollen overall,
and the patient complained of discomfort.
OP: Surgery was performed to remove the silicone inside the nose.

The silicone that had broken through is now completely out of sight,
the wound healed cleanly after the removal surgery,
and the nose has taken on a natural appearance.

Physical Examination: After silicone rhinoplasty,
the silicone extruded inside the right nostril.
OP: After the removal surgery, the swollen
dorsum settled completely,
and the shape became natural.

The silicone, which had extruded with redness and infection,
was cleanly removed,
and the shape of the nose also settled naturally.

Past History: 5 years ago, the patient had nose surgery using Gore-Tex for the dorsum
and mesh for the tip.
Physical Examination: Inside the nose, the mesh that had been used as a columellar strut
had extruded.
After the removal surgery, the wound inside the nose
healed cleanly.

Before removal, because of infection,
the skin of the glabella was red and swollen
and had thinned to the point of near perforation.
After the removal surgery, the infection subsided
and the skin returned to normal.
The shape of the nose also looks natural.

Physical Examination: The silicone had descended to the tip
and was pressing on the skin,
which had thinned almost to the point of being pierced.
Chief Complaint: Infection was also present; the tip was red
and the glabella and dorsum were swollen,
so silicone removal surgery was performed.

After removal, the infection resolved,
and the thin, red skin of the tip returned to normal.

Past History: The patient understood that 10 years ago, silicone and ear cartilage
had been used for the rhinoplasty,
and recently, because of an odor from inside the nose,
expressed anxiety.
Physical Examination: On examining the inside of the nose, on the patient's left side
Medpor was found to have broken through.
OP: The silicone, capsule, Medpor, ear cartilage,
and infected tissue were all removed.

After surgery the wound healed cleanly,
the odor is gone,
and the shape has also become natural.
