Summary Forehead filler is a treatment that adds volume while considering the profile curve of the forehead together with its flow into the cheekbones and nasal bridge; a staged approach that avoids overcorrection is important. At RESUM Plastic Surgery in Gangnam (Apgujeong), Seoul, treatment proceeds after assessing the balance of the profile. Medical Review Medical Review: Won-Suk Kook,Jin-Young Kim

Why Lisoom

Overview Filler That Refines the Forehead Curve
and Volume Without Surgery

Forehead filler is not a treatment that fills in a flat area; it refines the curve in profile using cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA).
The natural curve of the forehead is assessed from the profile line, not from the front, and its flow into the cheekbones and nasal bridge must be considered as well.
The forehead and glabella are supplied by the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries, making this an area that calls for caution, where serious side effects are reported very rarely; a cannula, safe depth, and the technique of injecting small amounts slowly are important.

Injection Depth SUTURE guide image

SutureInjection Depth

For the forehead, multilayer supraperiosteal injection is the basic approach. A highly cohesive volumizer is used to build structure in the deep layer, and a soft product is used to refine the surface texture. The superficial multilayer technique (bolus + sheet) is applied separately for each area.

Profile Curve HYBRID guide image

HybridProfile Curve

Priority is given to a natural curve in profile rather than from the front. The angle of the nasal bridge, the position of the hairline, and the glabellar line must all be considered together for a natural result. At the consultation stage, we plan while looking at profile photographs together.

Vascular Safety PARTIAL guide image

PartialVascular Safety

We review where the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries run and control depth and position accordingly. In the glabellar area, even a risk of blindness has been reported when filler flows back into the ophthalmic artery, so we give priority to a cannula and inject small amounts slowly. We check in advance that a dissolving enzyme (hyaluronidase) can be used immediately in an emergency.

Volume Control INCISION guide image

IncisionVolume Control

Filling too much at once creates a rounded contour that looks unnatural. Our basic approach is staged: we start with less and add more after 2-4 weeks. For a first treatment, the average amount is decided within the range of 2-4cc according to the patient's contours.

OUR PRINCIPLE

Core Values
The Principles RESUM Keeps

The forehead is not an area for filling a flat surface but for creating a curve. Rather than filling a lot at once, we assess the profile line and then refine it in stages.

Profile First

Safe Depth

Safe Depth

Safe Depth

We review where the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries run, keep the injection at the supraperiosteal depth, and give priority to a cannula in the glabellar area. Because even a risk of blindness has been reported when filler flows back into the ophthalmic artery, we keep to the technique of injecting small amounts slowly. We check in advance that a dissolving enzyme is on hand for emergencies.

Honest Limit

Honest Limit

Honest Limitations

When the forehead needs a very large change, filler alone has limits in creating a natural curve. In such cases, we tell you candidly at the consultation whether fat grafting or another method would be more suitable. We do not try to address every change with a single treatment.

How HA Fillers Work

Forehead filler works by injecting a gel made by cross-linking hyaluronic acid, a component naturally present in the skin, with BDDE or a similar agent. The cross-linked structure makes the gel more stable so that it does not break down easily, helping the curve to be maintained for a certain period. The injected HA attracts water, creating a soft curve in the forehead. Cross-linked HA gel injected above the forehead periosteum · BDDE cross-linking slows breakdown, supporting longevity · Soft curve formed through water affinity · Partly adjustable with hyaluronidase if needed

Planning Tailored to Each Area (Viscoelasticity and Injection Layer)

For the forehead, multilayer supraperiosteal injection is the basic approach: a product with a high storage modulus (G') builds the structure of the curve, and a soft product refines the surface texture. Rather than filling a flat area all at once, we distribute amount and direction with priority on the profile curve. We review the distribution of the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries, give priority to a cannula, and inject small amounts slowly at a safe depth. NOTICE

Precautions
Aftercare & Precautions

N · 01 The forehead is not an area for filling a flat surface but for creating a curve in profile, so we do not inject a large amount at once.
N · 02 Overfilling tends to create an unnatural, bulging rounded contour, so staged enhancement is our basic approach.
N · 03 In the glabellar area, where the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries run, depth and position are chosen with care.
N · 04 Backflow into the ophthalmic artery is reported very rarely, but it is a high-risk complication, so we give priority to a cannula and inject in small amounts.
N · 05 Temporary swelling and bruising may occur after injection and settle within a few days.
N · 06 This treatment is not performed during pregnancy, or on areas with active skin infection or severe inflammation. Avoid strong pressure on the area for 1 week after treatment.
N · 07 Results may vary depending on individual constitution and treatment condition, and a consultation with a board-certified specialist is required before treatment.

Doctor's Note

The forehead is not an area to be filled but an area where a curve is created. We give priority to a natural contour in profile. We review the distribution of the supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries, keep to safe depth and the use of a cannula, and do not fill a lot at once.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled the questions patients ask most often before a consultation.

Forehead filler is a treatment in which cross-linked hyaluronic acid is injected in multiple layers above the periosteum to refine the curve of the forehead in profile. The goal is not to fill in a flat area but to create a natural curve that flows into the nasal bridge. The amount and placement are decided on the basis of a natural-looking profile line.
A common approach is to build structure with a highly cohesive volumizer and then refine the surface texture with a soft product. The choice is made at the consultation according to the patient's skin thickness and contours. Suitability for the area and injection depth, rather than the product name, determine the result.
Hyaluronic acid settles in place immediately, so a change in contour is visible right after treatment. Swelling may occur for the first 1-2 days, so the contour stabilizes at around 1 week. We recommend assessing the final contour after the swelling has subsided.
You can return to daily activities the same day. Swelling and tenderness settle within a few days, and the final, stable contour takes shape at around 1 week. It is advisable to keep your schedule light for the first 2-3 days.
Temporary swelling, bruising, and tenderness may occur and settle within a few days. Nodules, asymmetry, and hypersensitivity reactions are reported in rare cases, and serious side effects such as vascular complications and blindness have been reported very rarely. To lower the risk, safe injection depth, use of a cannula, and having a dissolving enzyme on hand are important.
Pricing depends on the product used, the amount injected, and whether additional areas are treated together. At the consultation we assess your contours, decide the product and amount, and then provide a quote. On average, the amount used falls within the range of 2-4cc.
