At a glance

What is Juvelook?

Juvelook is a hybrid booster with two ingredients that work on different timelines. Non-cross-linked HA gives hydration and some volume on the day, and PDLLA microparticles stimulate fibroblasts in the dermis so that your own collagen forms gradually.

As a biodegradable polymer, PDLLA is understood to break down by itself as time passes. It is placed in the dermis, and the depth matters: too shallow raises the chance of nodules, too deep weakens the collagen effect.

How long does a Juvelook session take?

A Juvelook session takes 30-45 minutes under topical anaesthesia. Daily activities can resume the same day, though a light schedule for the first 2-3 days is advised. The collagen effect only begins to settle from about 6 weeks and sessions are spaced weeks apart, so tell us your travel dates and Dr. Jin-Young Kim will plan the amount and the timing around them.

What Juvelook cannot do

Juvelook does not replace a cross-linked filler when substantial volume is the priority. Its HA volume does not last as long as a filler's, and the doctor will suggest filler in that case. If simple dermal recovery is the aim, a PN booster may be suggested instead. It also cannot be corrected by dissolving. PDLLA does not respond to a dissolving enzyme the way cross-linked filler does, which is why a large amount is not injected at once.

Purpose & suitability

You want hydration that shows now and collagen support that develops later, in one treatment.

Your skin needs more dermal thickness and elasticity, with a modest amount of volume.

You are comparing collagen stimulators and want the difference from Sculptra (PLLA alone) explained before choosing.

You prefer a cautious start with a small amount, built up over a series.

Treatment process

  1. Goal setting. The doctor asks whether immediate hydration and volume or longer-term collagen matters more to you, and confirms whether Juvelook suits your skin.
  2. Numbing and dose plan. Topical anaesthesia is applied, and a conservative amount is planned because the product cannot be dissolved afterwards.
  3. Injection at a set depth. PDLLA and HA are placed in the dermis at a depth chosen to limit the chance of nodules while keeping the collagen effect.
  4. Follow-up plan. The next sessions are spaced, and you are told when to expect the collagen phase, from about 6 weeks.

Time & recovery

Redness and swelling around the needle marks settle within a few days, and tenderness can accompany them. A bruise, if one forms, may stay for about 1 week.

The fullness you see on the day comes from the HA. Do not judge the treatment by it, because the PDLLA collagen effect settles in gradually from about 6 weeks.

If you fly home soon after the session, the collagen phase will arrive after your return. Keep the first 2-3 days lightly scheduled.

Limitations & precautions

Nodules are a known possibility with PDLLA. Depth and amount both influence them, so the doctor controls both and starts conservatively.

Temporary redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness can occur. Rare reports include nodules, asymmetry and hypersensitivity reactions.

Topical anaesthesia reduces the pain but does not remove it completely. Sensitivity to pain and results vary between individuals.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have Juvelook on a short trip to Seoul?

A Juvelook session takes 30-45 minutes and daily activities can resume the same day, so a session fits a short trip. The typical protocol is 2-3 sessions spaced 1-4 weeks apart and a large change from 1 session is unlikely, so tell us your travel dates and the doctor will plan around them.

Does Painless Juvelook hurt?

Painless Juvelook is carried out under topical anaesthesia to reduce the pain, but that does not mean there is none. Some discomfort during the injections is possible, and sensitivity varies from person to person.

Can Juvelook be dissolved if I change my mind?

No, PDLLA cannot be dissolved with a dissolving enzyme, whereas cross-linked filler can. For that reason Dr. Jin-Young Kim starts with a conservative amount and builds up over a series instead of injecting a large amount at once.

How does Juvelook compare with Sculptra or a PN booster?

Juvelook pairs PDLLA with non-cross-linked HA, while Sculptra is PLLA alone. A PN booster is a different option again, suggested when simple dermal recovery is the priority. The doctor explains the differences in the consultation and you choose according to your goal.

What will I notice after I fly home, and how long does Juvelook last?

The HA gives hydration and volume that you can see straight after the session, and the collagen effect from the PDLLA settles in from about 6 weeks, usually after you are home. The clinic's treatment overview gives a duration of about 12 months.
