A visit-planning guide to skin boosters at RESUM Plastic Surgery Clinic in Gangnam: how the ingredient is chosen, how long a session takes and how a series fits around your travel dates.

Skin boosters are a group of injectable treatments, not one product. Small amounts of a supporting ingredient are placed across the dermis in several layers to work on hydration, texture and elasticity.
The ingredient decides what the treatment does. Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) mainly hydrates, polynucleotide (PN, as in the Rejuran series) is aimed at dermal recovery, and PDLLA (Juvelook) adds some volume while stimulating collagen. ECM boosters such as Re2O, exosomes and PRP work in other ways again.
A session takes 30-45 minutes and is carried out under topical anaesthesia. The clinic also advises a lighter schedule for the first 2-3 days afterwards. Because the usual course is a series and not a single visit, send us your travel dates before you book. Dr. Jin-Young Kim can then tell you how far a plan can go during your stay.
| Session | 30-45 minutes |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | Topical anaesthesia |
| Back to daily activities | Same day, with a lighter schedule for the first 2-3 days |
| Usual course | 3-4 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart (the clinic's basic series is 3 sessions) |
| How long it lasts | About 6 months |
One session rarely produces a large change, and no single booster covers every skin concern. HA boosters hydrate, but their volume does not last the way a cross-linked filler does, so a booster does not stand in for filler when volume is the goal. Results also differ from person to person. Boosters are often used alongside laser, fillers or Botox, and the doctor sets the order and the combination in the consultation.

Your skin is dry, uneven in texture or losing elasticity, and you are not sure which booster suits it.
You want the ingredient chosen from an assessment of your skin, not from what is trending.
You can accept gradual change over a series instead of a large change from 1 session.
You are recovering from laser, fillers or Botox and want a supporting treatment planned around it.
Redness and swelling about the size of the needle marks usually calm down within a few days. Bruising, if it appears, can stay for about 1 week.
For the first 1-2 days, keep away from anything that irritates the skin and let it settle. You can go about your day straight after the session, but a lighter schedule for the first 2-3 days is sensible.
The timing of the result depends on the ingredient. HA boosters hydrate straight away, while PN, PDLLA and ECM boosters show gradually, usually from 2-4 weeks after a session, and the result stabilises once the series is finished.
Tell the doctor about any fish protein allergy and about previous procedures. Some boosters are made from salmon DNA (PN) and some from human-derived ECM.
Temporary redness, swelling and bruising can occur. Nodules and hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in rare cases, and the pattern differs by ingredient.
The injections reach several layers of the dermis, so some discomfort is possible even with topical anaesthesia. Pain sensitivity, recovery and results vary between individuals.
One skin booster session takes 30-45 minutes and daily activities can resume the same day, so a single session fits a short stay. The usual course is 3-4 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart, and a large change from 1 session is unlikely, so share your travel dates and the doctor will tell you what is realistic.
Some discomfort is possible because the product is injected into several layers of the dermis. Topical anaesthesia is used to reduce it, and sensitivity to pain differs from person to person.
Dr. Jin-Young Kim chooses the ingredient after assessing skin thickness, pores, fine lines, pigmentation and elasticity. HA, PN, PDLLA and ECM boosters work differently, so at RESUM Plastic Surgery Clinic the choice follows your skin and your goal, not the product that happens to be popular.
Yes, skin boosters are often used as support while the skin recovers from laser, fillers or Botox. The order and the spacing affect the result, so the combination is planned in the consultation around your schedule and skin condition.
Skin booster results last about 6 months. Change usually starts to be noticed 2-4 weeks after a session, so it tends to show after you have left Seoul, and it stabilises when the series is complete.
