What is Rejuran?

Rejuran is a skin booster made of polynucleotide (PN) extracted from salmon DNA. Once in the dermis, PN activates fibroblasts, which encourages the dermis to regain thickness and to produce collagen and elastin.

It is a recovery treatment, not a filling one. Fine deposits are spread over the whole face, and the product is matched to the area: Rejuran Healer for skin texture and fine lines, Rejuran i for the eye area, Rejuran HB when more hydration is wanted.

How long does a Rejuran session take?

A Rejuran session takes 30-45 minutes. Numbing cream goes on first because the number of injections is high, and the first 2-3 days afterwards are better kept lightly scheduled. The series runs over several weeks, so give us your travel dates when you enquire and Dr. Jin-Young Kim will plan the sessions around them.

What Rejuran cannot do

Rejuran does not create immediate volume. It does not fill the way a filler does, and when volume is what you need, the doctor will point you to another treatment. A large change from 1 session is also unlikely, because the effect comes from the dermis recovering over a series. How much change appears varies between individuals.

Treatment process

Dermal assessment. The doctor checks skin thickness, fine lines, the eye area and hydration, then decides whether Rejuran suits you and which product goes where.
Numbing cream. A topical numbing cream is applied before the injections, and the distribution plan is reviewed.
PN injection. Polynucleotide is placed in many small deposits through the layers of the dermis across the whole face.
Next steps. The following sessions are scheduled, and the timing of any later maintenance is left to how your skin responds.

Time & recovery

Redness and small raised bumps at the injection points are expected at first. Redness and swelling settle within a few days, and a bruise, if one forms, can take about 1 week to fade.

Daily activities are possible the same day. Keep the first 2-3 days lightly scheduled.

Change usually starts to be noticed 2-4 weeks after a session, and the result steadies after 3-4 sessions. If you fly home soon after treatment, expect the change to appear there.

Limitations & precautions

Tell the doctor if you have ever had a fish protein allergy. Rejuran is derived from salmon DNA.

Temporary redness, needle marks, swelling and bruising can occur. Nodules and hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in rare cases, which is why suitability is checked in a consultation first.

Some discomfort may still be felt despite the numbing cream, because many injections are made across the face. How quickly the skin settles and when the next session is due differ from person to person.
